Today we wanted to journey to Peru, it’s been on both of our bucket lists for such a while. There’s interesting and beautiful scenery there, as well as a rich history of textiles and weaving.
When I think of Peru I think of bright colored textiles and patterns. Since I don’t usually like patterns, I picked pieces, that were solid but contained patterns through their textures and weaves. It’s all about chunkiness and layering!
For this trip, I’m drawing inspiration from Peruvian textile traditions (you might have picked up on the fact that we are kind of textile nerds by now I think.) I LOVE pattern and you can bet you would find some in my suitcase. To keep the looks clean though, I would pair pattern heavy pieces with modern shapes that have a bit of that lady-archaeologist flair.
What do you think of our choices? And what would you wear on this trip? Let us know in the comments!
Hey guys! Laura and I both are in possession of these awesome animal shirts so we decided it was time to do a themed animal post. It was such a fun little thing for us to do, and it shows the crazy differences in our east coast/west coast style. I think all of our friends and family thought we were crazed for buying these shirts, but honestly I wear mine all the time. It makes me smile and also makes me feel just a little too cool for school.
So what do you think of the animal trend, too wild for you? And what is your favorite animal?!
Ok, heres the game: pick your dream place to travel. Literally any place on your bucket list will do. You get to pick outfit inspiration to pack on your trip: a dress for a fancy dinner, a casual outfit to run around in, and some wildcards just for fun. Unlimited budgets and a dream wardrobe for globetrotting.
We play this game on the phone sometimes just for fun and wanted to share it with you all! Both of us definitely have the travel bug, but when funds are lacking it’s fun to plan a little fantasy trip (starting of course, with the style!) We hope to make this a regular series, but here’s the first stop on our little journey.
This trip is inspired by Beck’s sister’s recent engagement. Her guy proposed at this fabulous igloo hotel in Finland. Heated individually and made entirely of glass, they are perfect for viewing the northern lights and warming up after long reindeer rides! Click through for each of our takes on the style for this amazing trip.

I‘d keep warm with cozy florals. Baby blue overcoat, sparkling embellishment, and layered knits. My direction is all about the softer side of a snowy day.
So what do you guys think? What would you wear on a trip to Finland? Also, we wanted to share this adorable picture with you of our happy couple :)
Just look down at your feet and… instant mood boost!
Happy Monday you guys! I thought this little color burst would be a fun way to start the day. I wore this look out and about on Sunday but feel like this is a fresh, casual vibe I could rock all week long. And seeing as its a holiday week, I just might.
I’m looking forward to flying to North Carolina on Thursday morning for a long weekend with my family and a reunion with my darling Becks! Hope everyone has fun plans for Thanksgiving and, of course, killer outfits to go along :) Let us know what you think about these crazy shoes and what you are up to this week in the comments!
Today I matched this wall. This sweater is one of my all time favorites. Not only is it warm and cozy and just the right amount of slouchy, but it has a giant cowl that can also be worn off the shoulder if you’re having a Sandy from Grease moment. (see below for styling) I also just added these ankle booties to my rotation. They are suede and the perfect shade of grey which makes me so incredibly happy!

So what do you think- cowl or off the shoulder? And should I always match my backdrop? Can’t wait to hear from you!
Hi friends, hope you’re having such a great week and getting your stretchiest pants prepared for Thanksgiving dinner! The holidays are fast approaching and I am just starting to prepare for all the holiday parties and events to come. One of the events I am most excited about is an upcoming wedding I’m going to with my boy. Weddings might be my all time favorite events to attend, I mean that much happiness and pretty in one night? Call me a hopeless romantic but no matter what I can never seem to fight off happy, embarrassing tears. So of course I started thinking about what I was going to wear about 2 months ago when we RSVP’d yes. (Don’t judge me.) I promised myself I’d wait until at least halfway through November before I started the search: so here we are!
Here are my thoughts:
I definitely want to sew something! I just finished 5 years of fashion design and sewing, so I’d love to make something unique I can tailor to my body type. Normally my style is a little more edgy and body conscious, but with weddings I love something a little softer. I’m thinking the easy elegance of a fuller skirt and am also absolutely in love with deep scoops or squares both in the neckline and back of the dress. It has an easy elegance while still being a little demure. Want to look at some of my inspirations with me before I start sketching?
The wedding is only a couple of days after Christmas so I’m thinking I want to use either a navy or deep green fabric. What do you think about the color or silhouettes? Is there a dress you like the most? I can’t wait to keep you updated with my sketches and final project!
I’m playing around with the idea that if I pair a scarf with my favorite sundress it can pretend it’s a fall outfit. It’s November and 80 degrees out so I’m trying to stay true to my love of fall fashion without dying of heat. I’m normally not crazy about floral prints but I love how graphic this one is, and honestly anytime there is an interesting back I’m sold! I may or may not have gotten several comments about the shortness of this dress, but sometimes you just have to be bold and hope for the best! (i.e. no wind)
So what do you think, does this pass as fall or should I fly back to flannel?
I used to think the only appropriate time for sneakers was never. Man was I wrong. Lately I have been daydreaming of the bold design, fun colors, and- let’s face it- comfort that really only seem appropriate in an old fashioned lace up shoe situation.
I don’t know guys maybe I’ve been sucked in by these enviable adorable street style images (P.S. click through for links!), or maybe working at an active wear brand is getting into my head, but I’m starting to rethink my footwear game. Especially after I saw that Mary Katrantzou is collaborating with Adidas on a collection of fresh sportswear and shoes, out this month. Christmas present anyone?
Check out a few of my other picks for fun kicks below! I’d love to pair any of these with black jeans or an oversize dress and then hop on my bike and zip off to work (in semi-appropriate style!) via Adidas, Nike, Converse, and New Balance
So what do you think about this track shoe trend? Love it or hate it? Let us know in the comments!
Well it looks like we have approximately 3 days of nice weather left before the cold hits so I’m squeezing in every last drop of bare legs. It was the perfect day for a couple of work appointments, and then an impromptu cupcake date! You guys, I made this skirt about 5 months ago and it still makes me squeal a little every time I get to wear it. I always love tying my button downs as well because it gives a more defined waist and adds an interesting little sculptural element.

I love sunflowers- just ask Becka! So this little smocked top number pretty much screamed my name from the racks of one of our (many) local thrift stores. A little alteration and it’s a perfect easy dress for the sunshine-ey Southern California November we’ve been having. I paired this with a denim jacket for a night out and dressed it up with a pop of red in the lipstick and sandals. But it seems to work just as well paired with my trusty bright turquoise backpack and mirrored sunglasses for weekend errand running.
I have to say I am a little weirded out by this whole sundress two weeks before Thanksgiving thing- but I think its something I can get used to!
